BIM primarily stands for "Building Information Modelling". However, the acronym sometimes also has other meanings: "Building Information Model" and "Building Information Management". These other interpretations are also valid in the global context of the BIM process at various stages.
BIM is not a "must do" thing, its a process. This difference is important and it's the reason why architects have an important role to play in this process.
