On the fringes of the annual meeting of its General Assembly held on 21 May 2025 the G30 organized a Lunch Debate at De Warande in Brussels during which the Federal Minister in charge of Middle Class, Independents and SMEs of Belgium, Ms Éléonore Simonet addressed the audience of G30's members and some external guests. On this occasion Ms Simonet delivered a speech about the Government's programme and policy in her area of competence, and she pointed to the elements of specific interest for architects. The exchange that followed with the participants has allowed to raise a number of topics such as the ways and means to foster the representation of professional interests and public procurement issues (the review of the relevant EU Directive is underway), among others. Il also offered an opportunity to advocate for the establishment of pertinent instruments in order to recognize more effectively the actual economic value of architectural services. Of particular relevance is the fact that the economic situation of architectural firms is directly linked to their capacity to offer an adequate remuneration to young architects and beyond to sustain the further development of the profession.
The Minister has accepted the principle of regular exchanges on topics of interest to the profession in a format to be determined.
